Trends in fisheries production totals 1950 - 2005
The landings (fished or harvested) of animals and plants have remained stable around 90 million tonnes for a number of years. In 2005, at 94.5 million tonnes, the level decreased compared with 2004 and was again lower than in the year 2000.

Landings of fish and plants remained stable over the period in question (1980-2005), those of molluscs and crustaceans roughly doubled over the same period. The ‘other’ group was however very variable. This group includes crocodiles and alligators, seals, sea lions, jellyfish and sea urchins.
